'a feather and a stone jewellery design' is a creative expression of the artist Sheena Francis Olito. Her designs aim to inspire a connection with the land, culture, and oneself.
Sheena is of Southern Tutchone, Tlingit, and Scottish descent, and she proudly belongs to the Kwanlin Dun First Nations in the Yukon. However, her upbringing on Vancouver Island and her mother's adoption into a Cree family have uniquely shaped her identity, instilling in her a profound appreciation for diverse Indigenous cultures and their teachings.
Making jewellery has become an outlet for her creative expression, which helps ground and center her. As Sheena continues to explore her identity and heritage, her art evolves, capturing not only the beauty of her cultural teachings but also the evolution of her own self-awareness.
