Okimakahn Lepine has over 45 years of martial arts and fitness training experience. His martial arts journey has empowered him to structure and methodize the Indigenous Combative Art of Okichitaw to have it professionally recognized throughout the world.
At an early age he learned traditional Indigenous games and other traditional practices of his Indigenous heritage which included hunting, tracking as well as all-weather survival skills. Instructor Lepine is from Treaty 1 Territory and is a direct descendant of Ambroise-Didyme Lepine who was the Adjutant-General to Louis Riel and played a prominent role in the Red River Resistance in the late 1800s.
Okimakahn Lepine continues to research his territorial Indigenous tactical applications and combat practices to this day where he endures to share the unique physical training approaches that have been practiced throughout his traditional territory long ago.
Through his cultural work and dedication to the history of Okichitaw, he has been instrumental in the process of having Okichitaw being rejuvinated and officially recognized by UNESCO as a Tangible Cultural Asset by the United Nations and the World Martial Arts Union.
